Doha, Dec 16: Thailand won the Tennis men's single gold despite losing their best player to injury earlier in the Games. Danai Udomchoke amply filled the shoes of injured Thai tennis champion Paradorn Srichaphan.


Udomchoke, ranked 104 in the world, defeated the formidable Lee Hyung Taik of Korea, ranked 49, in two sets: 7-5, 6-3.


Japan's Go Seoda and Cecil Mamiit of the Philippines won bronze medals.
