New Delhi: Post pregnancy, mothers should take extra care of their diet as the kind of food they eat will transform into food for their baby.

Some nursing moms may find that they can eat whatever they like, whereas it may not be the same for others.

Breastfeeding moms should be very particular about the food they eat as it can affect their baby's health and behaviour.

Here are some foods which every nursing mother should avoid eating as babies most often object to it:

Spices

Avoid spices such as cinnamon, garlic, curry, chili pepper in food because it can cause a shift in the baby's reaction.

Caffeine

Do not consume too much caffeine as it can interfere with your baby's sleep.

Alcohol

One should avoid alcohol consumption post pregnancy as it can affect baby's eating and sleeping pattern. Though it may seem okay to have an occassional drink, do not have more than one drink.

Fish

Avoid consuming high-mercury fish such as shark, swordfish, king mackerel, tilefish, etc, as they can affect the baby's brain.

Citrus fruits

Avoid having citrus fruits like oranges, lemons, limes, grapefruit and their juices as babies experience gastrointestinal problems. They can also have a negative reaction to vitamin C found in these fruits.
