US man goes to hospital with stomach pain, leaves without hands and feet

New Delhi: The day 44-year-old Kevin Breen complained of severe stomach pain to his wife, he did not imagine that a regular visit to hospital would turn into a nightmare for him.

As per a report published in Ndtv, he was sent home with a prescription for a nausea medication and pain-relieving pills to get him through the next couple of nights.
After feeling worse the nest couple of days, doctors soon discovered that something was very wrong with Breen.
He had contracted strep throat; not a typical strain of the bacteria but a rare version that made doctors open him up and they found 1-and-a-half liters of infected pus in his abdominal region.
Breen experienced multi-organ failure and was about to die but a miracle made him revive after a couple of weeks.
Later he had to undergo first of four surgeries to partially amputate both of his feet, his left hand and multiple fingers on his right hand.
