New Delhi: A 18-year-old boy from Vadodara was astonished when dentists discovered that his massive protruding tooth is the longest human tooth in the world.

He has now entered the record books after Guinness World Records confirmed that his 'elephant canine' is the longest ever.

According to a report in Daily Mail, the teenager's tooth measured 3.67cm (1.44 in) which is nearly double the average size. His tooth beats the previous world record by just under 5 mm.

Dentist Dr Jaimin Patel told Daily Mail, 'My patient approached me with a complaint of the cosmetic and aesthetic problem. The canine tooth was buccally placed. We performed the surgical extraction under local anesthesia and the procedure took nearly 30 minutes. A normal human teeth has an average length of 20mm. In this case, it was extremely big.'

In February this year, Dentist Dr Jaimin Patel and his team removed Urvil's tooth, but the record was recognised only this week.

After removing his elephant canine', Urvil Patel now feels much more confident.

The previous record holder was Loo Hui Jing of Singapore, who had a tooth measured 3.2cm, which was extracted Dr Ng Lay Choo on April 6, 2009.
