New Delhi: A French woman gave birth to a healthy baby girl aboard a Turkish Airlines plane last week.

Guinean Diaby Nafi, who had been pregnant for 28 weeks, went into labour pain shortly after the plane took off from Conakry, Guinea, en route to Turkey with a stop in Ougadougou, Burkina Faso, on April 7.

Nafi gave birth to ‘Kadiju’ mid-flight at an altitude of 13,000 meters (42,000 feet) with the help of the trained cabin crew and other several passengers. During that time, the flight was on its way from Conakry, Guinea, to the Turkish city Istanbul.

 

“The mother gave birth while standing, and we received help from several other passengers,” said Bouthayna Inanır, one of the flight attendants who helped Nafi with the birth.

After the successfull birth, the plane landed the plane landed routinely in Ouagadougou, where the mother and baby were immediately taken to the hospital to be observed by medics. Both are said to be in good health.
