Doctors find no pulse in baby operated for hole in heart – Read what happened next

New Delhi: Three-month-old Aaradhya Wagh from Dhule, who was born with a hole in heart, miraculously survived after his heart stopped beating for 45 minutes.

According to Hindustan Times, the little boy's chances of survival were very less, but then he got a new lease of life when doctors from Wadia Hospital in Mumbai stabilised the heart by connecting the organ to an artificial mechanical circulatory support system.

Doctors treating Aaradhya said he is now fit and can lead a normal life.

The child lost his heartbeat after a day in the surgery, but with the help of a series of life saving procedures, the heart started responding and became fully functional and the child survived, as per reports.

The entire procedure took 26 hours for the heart to start beating normally.

Reportedly, Aaradhya had turned blue after birth and doctors said that such children are born with limited capacity of the heart to pump fresh blood in the body. They are popularly known as ‘blue babies,’ due to low levels of oxygen in the blood.
