New Delhi: Mumbai witnessed cadaver donation for the third day in a row bringing the count to 35 donors this year.

According to a report in The Indian Express, a senior citizen, Basantram Gupta, father of a paan and paani-puri stall owner, passed away at Nanavati Hospital, and his liver, both kidneys and cornea were donated.

The deceased had suffered a massive stroke that led to bleeding in the brain and was declared brain dead on July 23, as reported.

“It was the collective decision of my brother and sister that his organs be donated to patients in need. We believe that my father will live on through all the people who benefit through the transplant of his organs,” said son Shivprasad Gupta who runs a tiny stall.

According to the Zonal Transplant Coordination Center (ZTCC), Gupta’s liver was transplanted into a 17-year-old boy at KEM hospital and his cornea was donated to Roshni Eye Bank, as per reports.
