Amid attacks and counter-attacks, there are also sea of promises being made by political leaders in Gujarat, which votes for the second phase of Assembly elections on December 14. The latest bunch of promises come from Congress party president-elect Rahul Gandhi, who has aggressively campaigned in the Gujarat polls.
Taking to Twitter on Monday evening, the Congress leader made several promises pertaining to the education sector that the party would fulfil if it is voted to power.
One of the promises made by the Gandhi scion is that the students would be provided free laptops and poor students would be given aid to complete their education.
His tweet said, “Students will get free laptops, we will also reduce the cost of education in schools and colleges, financial aid will be given to poor students, and the number of teachers will also go up. We will make studies easier and won’t let education be auctioned.”

This comes a day after the Congress leader, who is slated to officially take over as party president on December 16, said that nothing could stop his party from winning the Gujarat Assembly elections.
"Congress is going to win in Gujarat. No one can stop that from happening. People of Gujarat have made up their mind," he said, claiming that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had no plans for the development of the state.
"They (BJP) say the Congress has disappeared from Gujarat, but why 50 percent of the PM's speeches are on the party and rest on himself? He has no plan for the people of Gujarat," he said.
Rahul Gandhi also targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi for talking about Pakistan, China and Japan in Gujarat elections and not talking about the issues concerning the state.
He also alleged that PM Modi was frequently shifting his campaign plank in Gujarat.
"First it was the Narmada water, but after farmers started saying it has not reached their fields, PM Modi changed track and began speaking about OBC issues. When that also did not find favour with people, he went for development issues but people punctured it", he said.
"Now, Modi ji speaks about Afghanistan, China, Pakistan, and Japan. Modi ji, this is the election about the future of Gujarat. Please say something about Gujarat also," he told a rally in Tharad in Banaskantha district.
Gandhi was apparently targeting the PM over his yesterday's suggestion that Pakistan was trying to influence the Gujarat Assembly polls and that some current and former officials of that country had met Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar's residence a day before 'neech' remark against him.
