Know the truth behind Rahul Gandhi's viral 'potato to gold' speech video

PATAN: Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi has been travelling across the length and breadth of Gujarat campaigning for the party. In repeated rallies and public speeches, he has stepped up his attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi targetting him for Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) development model in Gujarat.

A video of one of such speeches of Rahul Gandhi has gone viral in which he can be heard talking about a machine which will convert 'potato into gold'. He can be heard in the speech saying: "I will make a machine which will convert potato into gold. (Aisi machine lagaunga, iss side se aaloo ghusega, uss side se sona niklega.)"

The video generated a lot of buzz on social media with people converting it into memes and jokes.

However, the video is just half-baked truth. In the 18th minute of the 26-minute long speech, he has spoken of this machine. But what is not included in this viral video is that he added that "These are not his words but words of PM Modi."

When and if Modi made such a speech though, is not clear. This might just be Rahul's attempt at mocking Modi which in turn backfired and turned into a joke on him.
