BJP's Babubhai Bokhiriya wins from Porbandar

Ahmedabad: BJP candidate and state fisheries minister Babubhai Bokhiriya on Monday won the Porbandar seat, defeating senior Congress leader Arjun Modhvadia.

Bokhiriya retained the seat for the saffron party by defeating Modhvadia by a margin of 1,855 votes.

As the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is making a bid for a fifth term in Gujarat, the Congress is attempting an electoral revival. 

Stakes are certainly high for ruling BJP, which is looking for a sixth term in Gujarat, and the Rahul Gandhi-led Congress party, which aims to end its 32-year drought here. While most of the exit polls have given BJP a clear edge over Congress, the latter is still confident that the real picture would be different.
