Panaji: Assembly constituency number 31 is assigned to Margao Vidhan Sabha in the 40-seat Goa Legislative Assembly. There are 4 candidates contesting from Margao seat in the Goa Assembly elections 2017.

Margao election result 2017 will be declared along with other 4 states on March 11. 

In Margao, Digambar Vasant Kamat of Indian National Congress is pitted against Sharmad Raiturkar (BJP), Santosh Raiturkar (AAP) and Jayesh Raghunath Naik of Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party.

With assets worth ₹10 crore, sitting MLA Digambar Vasant Kamat is also the richest candidate in this constituency.

In Margao election results 2012, Digambar Kamat was declared winner here. Kamat secured 12041 votes to defeat his BJP rival Mahatme Rupesh who bagged 7550 total votes. 

BJP and INC are main competitors here although AAP is also posing a tough competition to both parties this time.

Both the candidates Digambar Kamat and Mahatme Rupesh have very good voter base in Margao. 

The vote margin between Digambar Kamat and Mahatme Rupesh in 2012 was 4491.

In Margao election results 2007, Digambar Kamat was elected as Member of Legislative Assembly. Kamat got 9198, whereas Sharmad Raiturkar managed to secure 7170 votes.
