New Delhi: Authorities in Martinique's Caribbean island have spotted a tiny snake which happens to be no lesser than a treasure.

The concerned authorities caught a view of the tiny creature, which they claim to be the smallest in the world, while it was gulping down a group of ants.

Reportedly, the little creature belongs to the thread snake family and stands at just 10 centimetres.

This creature has broken the record of the previous smallest snake which happened to be its closest cousin.

As per reports, the serpent is so small that it can pass through a lead-less pencil and spends most of its time under the ground to protect itself.
