Authorities discover new species of fish in remote Arunachal district
The new specie belongs to genus Physoschistura and was discovered by a team of scientists from remote Lohit river at Walong in Anjaw district.

New Delhi: A team of experts from Zoological Survey of India has discovered a new species of fish from a remote district in Arunachal pradesh.
The new specie belongs to genus Physoschistura and was discovered by a team of scientists from remote Lohit river at Walong in Anjaw district.
Lakpa Tamang, who along with Bikramjit Sinha led the survey team, described the new specie and designated the name as Physoschistura Walongensis in remembrance of the area Walong.
Till date, Tamang has contributed 10 new species from various water bodies of the state.
He was also hopeful of the existence of more new species in the remote areas of the state, the communiqu? added.
