Los Angeles: Grammy nominated singer-songwriter Janelle Monae and "James Bond" actress Naomie Harris have joined the cast of "Moonlight".

Mahershala Ali and Andre Holland have also been cast in Barry Jenkins' film, said The Hollywood Reporter.

A24 is fully financing the film from superstar Brad Pitt's Plan B Entertainment ('12 Years a Slave'). Adele Romanski is also producing.

"Moonlight" follows the story of a young man who comes of age during "War on Drugs"-era Miami.

The film was adapted by Jenkins from the play "In Moonlight Black Boys Look Blue" by Tarell McCraney, and is currently shooting in Miami.

The film marks 29-year-old Monae's big screen debut. 49-year-old Harris, who most recently starred in the Jake Gyllenhaal boxing drama "Southpaw", will next been seen in "Spectre", the latest installment in the James Bond franchise, which hits theatres on November 6. A24 is planning a fall 2016 theatrical release.
