J.J Abrams says changes in 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' were crucial narrative choices

Melbourne: Director J.J. Abrams countered his fans, who claimed blockbuster 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' was a lazy rip-off of the original trilogy.

In a recent interview, he said that it was obviously a wildly intentional thing to go backwards in some ways and forwards in the important ways which ultimately made the structure of 'Star Wars' as classic and true as it can get, reports news.com.au.

While Abrams acknowledged the film relied on plot elements found in the original movies, he argued that these were crucial narrative choices to provide bones to 'Star Wars'.
