London: Actress Jenna Coleman has confirmed that she has quit the hit British science fiction TV show "Doctor Who".
“I have left the TARDIS, I have, it’s happened. I’ve filmed my last scenes. It was emotional. It’s been in the works for a very long time," Coleman confirmed on a radio show.
"Steven (Moffat) and I sat down a year ago and tried to work out the best way to do it. It will happen at some point this season. Hopefully people will love it."
Coleman also revealed that she will miss the show, but not that much because she's stolen a key to the TARDIS (Time And Relative Dimension In Space), a time machine and spacecraft in the TV show, so she's in a state of denial about leaving.
“Yeah, there’s not a lot of job where you have a space ship, an alien as your best mate and get to run away from monsters. It’s so much fun, I love it. It’s such a unique beast. It’s been really special," she said.
“I think I’m in denial. I really don’t feel like I’ve left because I see Peter all the time, and I still see Matt all the time so I feel I have a key to the TARDIS," she added.
The actress had originally intended to quit the show at the end of series eight, but later changed her mind and stayed for another year.
The ninth series of "Doctor Who" starts on Saturday.
