Timeline: How Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie became 'Brangelina'

New Delhi: There is no denying the fact that a lot of Hollywood lovers are saddened by the split of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. 'Brangelina' was considered to be one of the most romantic celebrity couples of all times and their relationship gave love goals to numerous fans across the globe.

But, as they say, all good things come to an end. On Monday, millions of hearts shattered into pieces when Angelina filed for divorce from the 52-year-old actor after just two years of marriage.

She also released a statement addressing the divorce. "This decision was made for the health of the family," her attorney said. "She will not be commenting at this time, and asks that the family be given their privacy during this difficult time."

Breaking his silence, Brad said the well-being of their kids "matter the most now".

"I am very saddened by this but what matters most now is the well-being of our kids," Pitt said in a statement released to PEOPLE magazine.

"I kindly ask the press to give them the space they deserve during this challenging time."

Timeline of their relationship:

2004: Brad and Angelina met on the sets of their film 'Mr and Mrs Smith' and reports of their romance took over the entertainment world. But, both the stars maintained a safe distance from all such news. Interestingly, at that time, the 'Fight Club' actor was married to Jennifer Aniston.

2005: Aniston and Pitt announced their separation. 'Mr & Mrs Smith' duo appears on the cover of W magazine. Also, in the same year, they both adopted daughter Zahara from Ethiopia.

2006: Brangelina welcome their first child together.

2007: The 'Salt' actress adopts another child. This time, from Vietnam.

2008: Angelina gives birth to twins Knox and Vivienne in Nice.

2012: The much-in-love couple announced their engagement in April after seven years of togetherness.

2014: Brad and Angelina tied the knot on August 23 at their estate Château Miraval in Correns. It was being said that they got hitched because of their children.

2016: Report of their split took over the showbiz arena. Rumour streets also revealed that Brad was cheating on Angelina with French actor Marion Cotillard.
