Los Angeles: Joshua Allen, the winner of “So You Think You Can Dance” season four, has been charged with domestic abuse and could face over a decade in state prison, the Los Angeles County District Attorney said.
Allen potentially faces two felony counts -- first of willfully injuring his girlfriend after a prior conviction, and second felony count of assault with a deadly weapon, a glass vase, reports variety.com.
According to the authorities, Allen was convicted of injuring his girlfriend in January, and was issued a criminal protective order that kept him from communicating with her.
The prosecutors say that Allen assaulted and strangled the same woman a few months later, on April 13, and attacked her again on June 19.
The woman allegedly ran to a coffee shop to escape, and Allen threw a glass vase at another woman who was trying to help the victim. Prosecutors added that Allen also attacked a man and vandalised the coffee shop.
If convicted, Allen faces a maximum sentence of over ten years in state prison. Prosecutors will request $270,000 bail.
Allen won “So You Think You Can Dance” in 2008.
