New Delhi: Television industry was left in lurch after famous telly actress Pratyusha Banerjee was found hanging from a fan ceiling at her residence in Goregaon, Mumbai. A lot unravelled post her death, with ante upped against her producer boyfriend Rahul Raj Singh.

Pratyusha's friends and family have accused Rahul of abetting her suicide. Initial reports suggest that Pratyusha's mother Soma Banerjee has moved the Supreme Court seeking cancellation of anticipatory bail to Rahul.

The plea was mentioned before a vacation bench of Justices A M Sapre and Ashok Bhushan who fixed the matter for hearing on May 30. Counsel appearing for Pratyusha's mother Soma Banerjee said Rahul should be taken into custody as the investigation is still on in the case and there is likelihood that evidence could be tampered by him.

In the petition filed before the apex court, her mother sought custodial interrogation of Rahul contending that there were several deep injury marks on the body of the deceased. The High Court had on April 25, 2016, granted anticipatory bail to Rahul who has denied the allegations levelled against him.

Earlier, Nilesh Pawaskar, the Special Public Prosecutor in the case, sought that the anticipatory bail granted to Rahul be challenged, slamming the High Court for even approving it without any bail application. Also, Pratyusha's parents Soma and Shankar Banerjee had written to Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh to ensure that justice is carried out.

The parents suspect Pratyusha's boyfriend Rahul Raj Singh, is behind their daughter's death, and that there's more than what meets the eye, hinting at a possible murder rather than a mere suicide.
