Mumbai: Devotees of Lord Shiva in north India are celebrating the auspicious Hindu month of Shravan that commenced on July 21, 2016. Temples dedicated to Lord Shiva across the nation witness devotees turning up in large numbers. People offer raw milk, water and Bilva leaves to the Linga besides chanting mantras and keeping fasts to seek blessings of the mighty god.

And since we are in the month of Shravan, we would like to share some information about a Shiva Linga which is believed to be 5000 years old.

Yes, you heard that right. A lesser known temple famous as Jaleshwar in a village named Kokam in the Dediapada Taluka of the Narmada district is home to the ancient Shiva Temple.

According to a report in Jagran.com, the Linga was discovered during an excavation in 1940.

Surprisingly, only a few are aware of the existence of this temple. The villagers and people from the nearby villages visit this ancient temple.
