'Park your car in right place, co-operate with police' – Delhi LG's advice to Kejriwal on car theft

New Delhi: Days after his blue WagonR car was stolen and subsequently recovered, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has got a fresh piece of advice from none other than Delhi's Lt Governor Anil Baijal on how to park his car safely.

According to media reports, Delhi LG Anil Baijal has said "the Chief Minister is expected to cooperate with policemen in their efforts to ensure parking of vehicles in designated places."

Interestingly, the LG said this in his reply to Kejriwal's letter to him on rising incidents of car thefts in Delhi.

Baijal also reportedly urged the CM to encourage parking of vehicles in designated places to prevent vehicles from being stolen.

The reactions from Baijal came days after Kejriwal's Blue WagonR car, parked outside the Delhi Secretariat, was stolen on October 12.

It was recovered from Ghaziabad two days later.

Expressing concerns over rising cases of car theft in the national capital, Kejriwal had written a letter to the Lieutenant Governor on October 13.

In his letter, Kejriwal also pointed towards "rapidly deteriorating law and order situation in the national capital".

"What can the common men expect in a state where the chief minister's car goes missing? Delhi's law and order has been rapidly deteriorating over the last few months. Police and law and order come directly under you," the Chief Minister had written.

Replying to him, Baijal wrote, "Hope that the CM would not only cooperate with Delhi Police in its efforts to motivate and encourage residents of Delhi to park their vehicles in authorised parking sites and install security equipment, but also boost the morale of its policemen by appreciating their commendable efforts that led to the recovery of his stolen car within two days."

Kejriwal's Blue WagonR car is registered in the name of the Aam Aadmi Party and is currently being used by the party's media coordinator Vandana.
