New Delhi: Honeypreet Insan, who was on the list of 43 most wanted people issued by the Haryana Police last month following the Dera violence, was taken into custody on Tuesday.
Honeypreet, the stepdaughter of Dera chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim, went underground after 41 people were killed and scores of others injured in the violence after a CBI court convicted him in a rape case on August 25. The court sentenced him to 20 years in prison on August 28.
The spiralling violence had gripped several cities and towns in Punjab and Haryana, prompting the administration to issue non-bailable arrest warrants against several people, including Honeypreet.

On September 26, Honeypreet filed an anticipatory bail plea in the Delhi High Court, claiming a threat to her life from the drug mafia.
On September 25, Honeypreet moved Delhi HC, seeking a transit anticipatory bail.
On September 22, a relative claimed that Honeypreet stayed in their house on the day of Ram Rahim's sentencing.
On September 21, Nepal police announced she was not in their country amid rumours that she may have fled to the Himalayan nation.
On September 17, a key Dera functionary was arrested, raising expectations that Honeypreet may soon be in the police net.
On September 16, Honeypreet's driver was arrested in Rajasthan.
On September 1, Haryana police issued a lookout notice against Honeypreet for allegedly plotting Dera chief's dramatic escape.
On August 25, Honeypreet went underground after a special CBI court in Panchkula held the Dera chief guilty of sexually exploiting two sadhvis.
