Stressing upon the need for conserving water, Anil Baijal, the Lt. Governor of Delhi, on Saturday inaugurated a decentralized sewerage treatment plant on Peshwa Road in the city.

New Delhi: Stressing upon the need for conserving water, Anil Baijal, the Lt. Governor of Delhi, on Saturday inaugurated a decentralized sewerage treatment plant on Peshwa Road in the city.

He also inaugurated a Smart PTU at Janpath having the facilities of roof top solar panel, Bank ATM, Water ATM, digital health clinic and sanitary vending machine and dispenser.

Baijal said that since the ground water level is depleting day by day in Delhi, so it is the need of hour to come forward for water conservation and optimum use of portable water in their daily life.

Appreciating the efforts being made by the NDMC to makeover and maintaining the green lungs of Lutyens Zone, he said the NDMC should keep it up momentum of the works for betterment of environement and its residents and visitors.

He further said that the New Delhi should not only be a Smart City in the country but at par at global standard. Expressing his appreciation over the maintenance of greenery in New Delhi area, he was very impressed about it, he added.

He paid a visit to the Rose Garden, which was commissioned by NDMC at Chanakyapuri to cherish the friendship of India-Africa.

The Lt. Governor also give away the cash prizes and mementoes to the best adjudged winners who participated in the painting and flower show competition organized by NDMC at Nehru Park.

NDMC has decided to install 20 Sewerage Treatment Plants for conservation of water and irrigating 48 percent of New Delhi green area and a memorandum of understanding (MoU) has been reached between NEERI and NDMC for implementation of twelve sewer treatment plants having capacity of 0.93 MLD in the current fiscal year.

Besides, Member of Parliament Meenakashi Lekhi, Chairman NDMC Naresh Kumar, Vice Chairperson Karan Singh Tanwar, Council Members and MLA Surender Singh other council members Abdul Rasheed Ansari, B.S.Bhati, Dr.Anita Arya, Secretary-NDMC, Smt.Chanchal Yadav and other senior officers of the NDMC present on the occasion.

The plant which has been constructed on a PPP model will be using soil bio technology.
