Noida: A month after Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav launched his government's 'quick response' police initiative UP 100, the same was launched in Noida on Thursday.

The project was launched by Samajwadi Party's Rajya Sabha MP Surendra Nagar, who  flagged off 37 police response vehicles (PRVs) from the office of the Senior Superintendent of Police in Sector 14A.

During the launch, Nagar said the initiative would improve policing in the city and would offer quick response to the people in need.

According to a ToI report, the Gautam Budh Nagar has received 27 Innovas and 10 Boleros under the project out of the total 74 vehicles earmarked for it.

While 18 PRVs each will be pressed into service in urban as well as the rural areas one vehicle will be reserved for emergency services.

In total, 78 drivers and 180 PRV staffers have been hired for the project.

An highlight of the project is the UP100 App - which can be easily downloaded on user's smartphone.

The project, which was launched by UP CM Akhilesh Yadav on November 19, is already operational in Lucknow and 10 other districts in the state.

A sub-centre is also slated to come up in the city's Sector 94, according to the officials.
