New Delhi: On the auspicious occasion of Basant Panchami, goddess Saraswati is revered in many parts of the country. The spring festival falls on the fifth day of the Magha month (January or February).

Revering the goddess of knowledge, renowned sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik took to Twitter and shared the pictures of the beautiful sand art tribute. He wrote: “Our SandArt institute students creating SandArt on Goddess Saraswati at Puri beach in Odisha. #HappySaraswatiPuja”

Saraswati Puja is celebrated in many parts of the country. For example in Bengal—the day holds utmost significance where rituals begin from early morning. Devotees pray to the goddess of wisdom, knowledge, arts and music.

The goddess is invoked and devotees seek blessings in the form of for prosperity, well being and wisdom. Special prasad is prepared including fruits and sweets are offered to goddess Saraswati first before it's distributed to all.

Saraswati puja includes recitation of various mantras and chants which echo the whole surrounding.

Besides, many bhakts throng Saraswati temples, play music and chant her name the whole day. It also happens to be the day when parents introduce letters to their children. They initiate them into writing letters of alphabet or study together.
