Shahid Afridi - Virat Kohli Twitter convo shows another side of Indo - Pak relations

New Delhi: The political affair between India and Pakistan haven't been at its best off late and that has also affected sporting relations of the two nations. Keeping rising bitterness aside, Team India gifted Pakistan cricket icon Shahid Afridi a signed Virat Kohli jersey, as present for his exemplary cricketing career which recently came to an end.

On Friday, Afridi acknowledged Virat Kohli and the entire Indian team for the heartwarming farewell gift they sent to him.

"To Shahid Bhai, best wishes, always a pleasure playing against you," was scribbled in Kohli`s handwriting in addition to signatures from the entire Indian team.

Reciprocating the friendly gesture, Afridi thanked Kohli and the Indian team via his Twitter account for their `wonderful` farewell gift.

Kohli replied to Afridi's tweet, saying, "@SAfridiOfficial It's a pleasure to have gifted something of importance and a lasting memory @SAfridiOfficial God bless you with everything in life See you."

In February, 37-year-old Afridi had announced his retirement from international cricket, bringing to an end his illustrious 21-year career.

Nicknamed `Boom Boom`, Afridi was active in the International T20 format after having quit Test cricket in 2010 and ODIs in 2015.Afridi finished his international career having played 27 Test matches, in which he hit 1,176 runs with a highest score of 156 and 48 wickets. In the 398 ODIs that he played throughout his career, he notched up 8,064 runs, with a highest score of 124, and took 395 wickets with his leg spin.

His T20I international career saw him play 98 matches and score 1,405 runs and take 97 wickets.
