New Delhi: Umar Akmal once again found himself embroiled in yet another controversy after the Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman reportedly misbehaved with excise police officers.
According to reports in Pakistani media, the 26-year-old was heading to the National Cricket Academy when he was stopped by the officers of Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Department as part of their drive to weed out illegal number plates.
When the officials stopped his car, Akmal started misbehaving with the police, said excise department Region C director Muhammad Asif. However, the cricketer challenged that the police misbehaved with him.

“We don’t discriminate when it comes to stopping cars with fancy number plates, we have also stopped cars of many MPAs,” Asif was quoted as saying by geo.tv.
“We respect him but he should set an example of how citizens should behave,” said Asif. “Previously, he misbehaved with traffic police and now excise department,” he added.

Last year, he was dropped from Pakistan’s tour of England after former coach Waqar Younis made complaints about his behaviour.
