The Indian women's cricket team clinched a narrow two-run win over the West Indies in their second warm-up clash of the 2020 International Cricket Council (ICC) Women's T20 World Cup at the Allan Border Stadium in Australia on Tuesday.
Opting to bat first, the Harmanpreet-led side struggled against the West Indies' bowling attack and were restricted to a score of 107 for eight in their stipulated 20 overs. Shikha Pandey was the highest scorer for the Women in Blue with an unbeaten score of 24 runs.
Shamilia Connell and Anisa Mohamed bagged two wickets each for the Caribbean side while Afy Fletcher, Chinelle Henry, Stafanie Taylor and Aaliyah Alleyne all chipped in with a wicket each.
In reply, Lee-Ann Kirby came up with a decent batting performance, scoring 42 runs off 41 balls. However, Poonam Yadav struck thrice late in the Caribbean side's innings to ensure India seal a win ahead of the showpiece event.
