India star cricketer Rishabh Pant was on his way to surprise his mother ahead of New Year when he met with the accident on the Delhi-Dehradun highway, Dr Sushil Nagar of the Saksham Hospital, where he was rushed to, has revealed. Pant escaped the near-fatal accident on Friday with burn injuries among others that will require plastic surgeries and he could be airlifted to Delhi if required. Nagar revealed that the player was headed home to pay the surprise visit to his mother and was returning from Delhi to Roorkee when his car collided with the divider on the Narsan border near Hammadpur Jhal around 5.30 am.

In the video, the cricketer can be seen with two boys lying on the side of the road while the car is up in flames. Rishabh Pant medical updates: Max Hospital doc opens up on Pant

Dr Ashish Yagnik, medical superintendent at Max Hospital, Dehradun said Pant is being evaluated by a team of orthopaedists and plastic surgeons in the emergency ward.
"A detailed bulletin on his condition will be available in around an hour after the evaluation is complete," he said, as per PTI.

Rishabh Pant Hospitalised: Will Pant be back soon to cricket ground?

Pant was left out of the upcoming white-ball series against Sri Lanka beginning on January 3 as he was supposed to join the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru for strength and conditioning programme ahead of February's Border Gavaskar Trophy. As of now, there is no clarity on his availability for the series against Australia. Pant has scored 2,271 runs in 33 Tests so far with the help of five hundreds and 11 fifties. He has also represented the country in 30 ODIs and 66 T20Is.

The BCCI has updated the media on Rishabh Pant's injuries post his accident. Read the full statement below.

"India wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant met with a car accident early on Friday morning near Roorkee, Uttarakhand. He was admitted to Saksham Hospital Multispecialty and Trauma Centre where he was treated for impact injuries.

Rishabh has two cuts on his forehead, a ligament tear in his right knee and has also hurt his right wrist, ankle, toe and has suffered abrasion injuries on his back. Rishabh’s condition remains stable, and he has now been shifted to Max Hospital, Dehradun, where he will undergo MRI scans to ascertain the extent of his injuries and formulate his further course of treatment.

The BCCI is in constant touch with Rishabh’s family while the Medical Team is in close contact with the doctors currently treating Rishabh. The Board will see to it that Rishabh receives the best possible medical care and gets all the support he needs to come out of this traumatic phase."

Rishabh Pant accident: What doctors says about cricketers's injuries?

Immediately after Rishabh Pant's car crash, he was taken to the nearest hospital where a doctor treated him and then referred to Max Hospital in Dehradun immediately. He said that there are no burns on Pant's body and that he also does not have a fractures bone.

After Pant's car met with an accident, video footage of his car crash is out. A local villager has recorded the video while another has been recorded by a passing by traveller from his car. In the video, one can see Pant lying on the ground while his car is in flames.

Rishabh Pant Road accident: Pant felt sleepy while driving car

A report states that Rishabh Pant was driving the car himself from Delhi to Roorkee. At around 5.30 in the morning, he felt and the car hit the road railing. The vehicle eventually caught fire and Pant came out after breaking the glass of the window. 

Rishabh Pant injury updates: Forehead and knee injured in car crash

According to a PTI report, Dr Sushil Nagar, who treated Pant in emergency, said the cricketer's main injuries are on his "forehead and knee." "The first X-rays suggest there is no fracture and there are no burns on Pant's body despite his car catching fire," it said. "Pant has two lacerative wounds on his forehead, one right above the left eye; there is a ligament tear in the knee; and abrasions on his back."

"We are all concerned but thankfully he is stable. We at DDCA are keeping a tab and wish him a speedy recovery," DDCA secretary Siddharth Sahib Singh said in a statement.
