Madhya Pradesh, not considered among cricketing elites during the past decade, on Sunday humbled domestic powerhouse Mumbai by six wickets in a one-sided Ranji Trophy final under coach Chandrakant Pandit, who exorcised the ghosts of losing one at this very ground 23 summers ago. On the final day, Mumbai could only manage 269 in their second innings, leaving MP with a paltry target of 108, and they did it in style as Pandit won a record sixth national title as a coach.

Chandrakant Pandit, in tears

MP coach was emotional after the win as he back in 1998/99 he led MP to their maiden Ranji final but they lost to Karnataka back then. He says that winning it now made me emotional.

What a moment this is for Madhya Pradesh cricket. And Chadrakant Pandit, who definitely knows a thing or two about winning Ranji Trophy titles.

That's a good knock from Suved Parkar, he keeps Mumbai's fight intact in this game. But he falls to Kartikeya. The ball skid off the pitch and Parkar wanted to cut it away, missed it completely. Fourth wicket down for Mumbai!

Pitch Report from Bengaluru: Lot more cracks and footmarks, the spinners going to get a lot of purchase today. However, all the cracks haven't opened up, so the ball will still come on nicely with the odd ball playing mischief.
