DC were expected to win with ease, given the small target, and Shafali Verma provided them with a strong start, dominating the powerplay with effortless scoring over the infield. Despite being dismissed by Matthews in the penultimate powerplay over, her replacement at the crease, Alice Kapsey, picked up where she left off, smashing three sixes off Matthews' over. Meg Lanning also contributed at a rapid pace, before Kapsey resumed her attack on Ishaque, hitting two sixes and a four. The winning runs were scored in that very over, as Delhi Capitals chased down the target in just 9 overs, overtaking MI on net run rate.
