Indian women's cricket team will take on England in their third group clash of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2023 on Saturday, February 18 at St George's Park in Gqeberha. India and England have been two top sides in the tournament so far with two wins each. India started off their campaign with a win over arch-rivals Pakistan. They then defeated West Indies women to ensure their campaign in the tournament remained on track. England, on the other hand, will be coming into this match with wins over West Indies and Ireland respectively. The India vs England contest would be pretty much a battle to finish on top of the table.
India will pin hopes on likes of Smriti Mandhana, Shafali Verma, Jemimah Rodrigues to deliver the goods. Mandhana did not have a great first game of the tournament vs West Indies after she missed the opening contest vs Pakistan. She would be itching to prove her worth, especially as the most expensive T20 player in the upcoming Women's Premier League. The match will start at 6.30 pm IST with toss to take place at 6 pm IST.

LIVE India vs England women T20 World Cup: Nat Sciver-Brunt after winning Player of the Match Award
"It was tough. They were getting it to seam a lot, the girl (Renuka) got five wickets and bowled brilliantly. We had to soak it up a little bit but make sure we put our foot forward and take the attack on as well. It depends really, if I got one off the middle of the bat early then it is the best feeling, but it did take a while today. We didn't get the start we wanted but we were good in the middle overs and ensured we kept going for the boundaries. It was good and great to have atmosphere like that."
LIVE India vs England women T20 World Cup: England win by 11 runs
It was a dominant display by England, especially with the ball, as they defended their total with ease. They did well to keep the Indian batters in check and picked up wickets at regular intervals. The spin trio of Ecclestone, Glenn, and Sciver-Brunt were outstanding and made it difficult for the Indian batters to get going. Overall, it was a clinical performance by England, and they fully deserve the win. India, on the other hand, will be disappointed with their performance as they were never really in the chase. They need to regroup quickly as they have some crucial games coming up in the tournament.
LIVE India vs England women T20 World Cup: Deepti Sharma Departs
Deepti Sharma is run out trying to take a risky second run as India is struggling to keep up with the required run rate. With over 15 runs needed per over from the last two, India is facing an uphill task. The rain has made the surface damp and the English bowlers are also finding it difficult to grip the ball. Despite the challenges, India needs to find a way to score quickly if they want to win this match. Richa Ghosh carries a lot of responsibility on her shoulders as the last recognized batter for India. The tensions between the two sides are also apparent as the match reaches its climax. India's chances look slim, but anything can happen in T20 cricket. India is currently 118/5 after 18.2 overs.
LIVE India vs England women T20 World Cup: Mandhana out
Smriti Mandhana has scored her fifty, but it hasn't been a fluent knock. India's hopes now rest on her and Richa. She has struggled for most of her innings, except for that one over from Katherine. However, she tries to take charge again and hits a six by coming down the track and lofting the ball over extra cover. But unfortunately, she is caught out on the very next ball by Nat Sciver Brunt. Smriti tries to hit another maximum, but this time, she decides to go downtown to the longer part of the ground. She mistimes the shot and is caught well inside the long-on fence. England is celebrating as if they have won the game. This could be a crucial wicket for them.
LIVE India vs England women T20 World Cup
Finally, Richa Ghosh has managed to break India's boundary drought. This is an important boundary for India, as the run-rate was beginning to spiral out of control. However, India cannot afford to take any chances in the next couple of overs. They must play each ball on its merit and hope that the English bowlers make a few mistakes. England, on the other hand, will be hoping to continue with the same disciplined performance that they have displayed so far in the game. The current score is 80/3 after 12.4 overs.
LIVE India vs England women T20 World Cup: Big blow for Team India
Ecclestone is brought back to bowl to Kaur, and she manages to take a crucial wicket. Kaur comes down the track, attempting to hit the ball over the top, but the ball spins away and takes the outer half of the bat. It skies towards cover-point, where Capsey runs across from extra cover and manages to take the catch, although not without some difficulty. The ball pops out of her hands, but she keeps her eye on it and takes it on the second attempt. This wicket further tightens the screws for England, and the Indian team will need to rebuild their innings from here.
LIVE India vs England women T20 World Cup: India 2 down
Glenn bowls to Rodrigues, and unfortunately, she is caught out by Katherine Sciver Brunt. It seemed like this was bound to happen as the runs had dried up and were only coming in singles and twos. Jemimah attempted to break free from the shackles by coming down the track and hitting a flighted delivery for a lofted shot, but she did not get enough power behind it. The ball was heading towards the long straight boundary, but Katherine positioned herself well on the rope and made a good catch. With that, Rodrigues departs, having scored 13 runs off 16 deliveries. The credit for the wicket goes to Glenn.

LIVE India vs England women T20 World Cup: Verma Departs
Bell comes in to bowl to Shafali Verma, and unfortunately, she is caught out by Katherine Sciver Brunt. The short ball tactic has paid off for England, although it was likely more due to the pressure from the previous dot balls than the plan itself. The delivery was halfway down the pitch, and Shafali attempted to pull it from outside off, but ended up toe-ending it straight up in the air. Katherine was able to settle under it near mid-on to make the catch.
LIVE India vs England women T20 World Cup: Mandhana on fire
In the third over, Katherine Sciver Brunt returns to bowl, and finally, Mandhana manages to get a good shot, sending the ball racing towards the boundary. The second ball is also dispatched to the ropes, and she pulls the third ball for another four. All of these shots are nicely timed, and Mandhana is showing some great form out there. And there's another one! Mandhana is really on fire today! After three overs, IND's score is 27/0.

However, captain Heather Knight and Nat Sciver Brunt got their side back in the contest. India women vs England women LIVE: Deepti Sharma vs England
Remember the last time India played England in an international match. The Deepti Sharma mankading episode happened which was not appreciated by the England team including their captain Heather Knight. England, both men's and women's team, are of opinion that mankading should not be a part of the game as it is unethical. The irony is that the rule is clearly written in the laws by MCC. Deepti had run out the Charlie Dean at the non-striker's end in the third ODI at Lord's to win the game for India. It resulted in India whitewashing the England. India are playing England for the first time since that game and needless to say, that moment would be in the minds of the players.
