It was yet another thrilling day of Test cricket, with only one day remaining in the final match. The situation is intense - Australia requires 7 wickets to win, while India needs to score 280 runs. The Australian team opted for a cautious approach during the morning session, adding just 78 runs to their total at the expense of two wickets. However, they adopted a more aggressive batting style after lunch. Carey and Starc displayed remarkable partnership skills, contributing 93 runs for the seventh wicket. This allowed Cummins to make a bold declaration, leaving one and a half sessions for the Test match.

Facing a formidable target, the Indian openers displayed swift scoring abilities. Unfortunately, at the stroke of tea, Green took an exceptional catch at gully to dismiss one of the Indian batsmen. Nevertheless, in the final session, Rohit and Pujara demonstrated their good form and kept the scoreboard ticking for India. However, their momentum was halted when the Indian captain, Kohli, fell to Lyon in the first over bowled by him, attempting a sweep shot. In the very next over, Pujara made an uncharacteristic shot and followed his captain back to the pavilion. Australia gained confidence from these breakthroughs, but Kohli's successor, Rahane, and he ensured that no further setbacks occurred. They exhibited fluent batting skills, forming a solid partnership of 71 runs.

IND vs AUS WTC Final Day 4: Game Evenly Poised At Stumps

With an exciting last hour, the game between India and Australia hangs in the balance. India requires 280 runs on the final day while Australia aims to take 7 wickets. The pitch has eased out considerably, and Virat Kohli's impressive unbeaten 44 off 60 balls sets the stage for an intriguing final day. Despite an injured finger, Rahane supported Kohli in a crucial partnership. Test fans eagerly await tomorrow's action.

IND vs AUS WTC Final Day 4: Rohit Departs

Rohit's dismissal is confirmed as Lyon gets him out LBW! Rohit decides to review the decision, hoping that the ball is pitched outside the leg stump. It's a tense moment as the replay is examined closely. Unfortunately for Rohit, the ball was straightening and would have hit the stumps. There was no bat involved, as confirmed by UltraEdge. The ball-tracking analysis shows that it pitched on the middle stump and was going on to hit the off stump. It's a clear case, and Rohit is declared OUT. Lyon has made a significant breakthrough, taking the wicket in his very first over. Rohit attempted an ambitious lap shot, but he completely missed the delivery. Lyon cleverly delivered the ball at a good length, causing it to straighten beyond the bat. Rohit must have sensed the trouble he was in and decided to take the review, but it didn't work in his favour.

IND vs AUS WTC Final Day 4: Tea Break

Tea has been called, and it was an eventful moment. Rohit Sharma appeared furious upon seeing the "OUT" signal displayed on the big screen, while Shubman Gill also seemed taken aback. The crowd expressed their dissatisfaction with a few boos. Nonetheless, Australia would be ecstatic to have broken the opening partnership, which had given India a strong start. Both Rohit and Gill had batted aggressively and appeared comfortable against the new ball until Scott Boland produced a delivery that sharply kicked off from a good length. Currently, Australia holds the upper hand in the game. They are just nine wickets away from victory, have a substantial total on the scoreboard, and the ball is still relatively new. We will return shortly for the final session, where the game's outcome will be determined.

IND vs AUS WTC Final Day 4: Gill Departs, Controversial Call

Boland to Shubman Gill, out Caught by Green!! Another stunner from Green at gully? Gill is hanging around, the umpires confer and they've sent it upstairs to check for a clean catch. Oh this is tight. He goes one-handed with his left hand, dives across, catches it but then his hand goes down and touches the ground because of the force of the ball. Did he have his fingers underneath it? The camera angle isn't great when looked at from the front. "Fingers underneath the ball" says the third umpire when he looks at it. But again, this camera angle doesn't look great. He's made his decision. OUT flashes on the big screen and Gill has to go. It's Boland who's got him again as he continues hitting that good length around off stump.

IND vs AUS WTC Final Day 4: All Eyes On Rohit, Gill

India faces a formidable target of 444 runs in the remaining 137 overs of this Test match. Australia displayed an aggressive approach after lunch, with Starc and Carey forming a vital partnership of 93 runs for the seventh wicket, achieving it in just 120 balls. This partnership has provided Australia with an extra buffer in their pursuit of victory. As India prepares for their innings, it is evident that they have a challenging task ahead if they aspire to come close to winning the trophy. Stay tuned for the upcoming fourth innings.

IND vs AUS WTC Final Day 4: AUS Delcare

Cummins' decision to walk out to bat after Starc's dismissal and then bat for just three balls seems puzzling. Nonetheless, Australia has made a bold move by declaring their innings, setting an imposing target of 444 for India to secure victory in the World Test Championship. Achieving this feat would require India to surpass the current world record for the highest fourth-innings chase on a pitch that is unpredictable and challenging. With 47 overs remaining in the day and potentially 90 more tomorrow, Australia's chances of securing a win depend on maintaining a good over-rate and favourable weather conditions.

Jadeja strikes! Green is bowled! It's a remarkable success for Ravindra Jadeja. He cleverly targeted the leg side, enticing Green into a tricky situation. The delivery spun sharply into the right-hander from the rough patch outside leg stump. Ideally, Green should have left it alone, but his foot movement was inadequate to defend or pad it away. The ball took a slight touch off the gloves, grazed the back-thigh, and then ricocheted onto the stumps. It's an unfortunate dismissal for Green, but credit goes to Jadeja for executing his plan to perfection. Against the flow of the game, Australia loses Green.

IND vs AUS WTC Final Day 3: AUS on top at the end of the day

Once again, we witnessed a day marred by the loss of over 12 overs due to unnecessary slowness. However, the game continues to progress well. Australia currently holds a lead of 296 runs with six wickets still intact. Had they displayed more discipline in the field this morning, their advantage could have been even greater. Unfortunately, dropped catches and wickets off no-balls allowed Ajinkya Rahane and Shardul Thakur to form a century partnership, limiting India's first-innings deficit to 173. During the evening session, Australia's two top batsmen from the first innings fell victim to hasty shots, a surprising turn of events, particularly for Smith, who appeared unmovable. Nevertheless, Marnus Labuschagne remains at the crease. If Australia can sustain their batting performance for a session and a half tomorrow, they should extend their lead to 400, creating a monumental challenge for India to chase on this pitch.

An extraordinary session unfolded as India reached a score of 109 for 1 in 22 overs. It should be going towards the ball; he was looking to play it and then decided whether he should leave it. You see, the way he is leaving it, the off-stump is exposed. The front foot is still middle stump when it’s actually going towards off stump. Watch that front foot. It should be further across and towards the ball. He thought it was outside the off stump.
