However, Devdutt Padikkal and Jaiswal played splendidly in the first 10 overs. Padikkal was particularly impressive, displaying excellent strokeplay and attacking Vyshak Vijaykumar and Maxwell. Although Jaiswal also made a positive start, he slowed down considerably as he approached fifty. Unfortunately for RR, this slowing down resulted in the loss of both set batsmen and no boundaries being scored between overs 11-15. Despite Samson and Hetmyer having a poor day, Dhruv Jurel's counter-attacking 34 kept the visitors in the game towards the end.
