New Delhi: Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) skipper Gautam Gambhir has made a wonderful decision to bear the education expenses of 25 CRPF personnel killed in an ambush by Maoists in Chhattisgarh’s south Sukma area on Monday.

Gambhir, who is known to extend his support for Indian soliders on a regular basis, wrote in a column for Hindustan Times, “On Wednesday morning, I picked up newspapers and saw gut-wrenching pictures of the daughters of two CRPF men killed in the latest attacks. One was saluting her martyred father while in the other picture, the howling young woman was being consoled by her relative,” Gambhir wrote in his column for Hindustan Times.

The Delhi batsman added that his foundation will take care of the education expenses of all those children.

“The Gautam Gambhir Foundation will take care of the entire education expenses of the children of these martyrs. My team has already started work on this and I shall soon share the progress we have made,” he wrote.

Gambhir on Monday slammed the ghastly attack in Chhattisgarh's Sukma district on Monday night, in which 25 CRPF personnel were killed while six others were left wounded.

"Chattisgarh, Kashmir, North East,do v need more alarm bells or r we a deaf state?Life of my countrymen isn't cheap, someone needs 2 pay 4 it," he tweeted.

The attack took place between Burkapal-Chintagufa area in south Bastar, the worst Maoist violence-affected district area of the state.

The naxalites mounted the assault around 12:25 PM in Kalapathar area of south Bastar region, one of the worst-hit by Left-wing extremism in the country.

The area is close to the Chintagufa-Burkapal-Bheji axis, the hotbed of naxal violence which has seen a number of such attacks in the past resulting in high casualties.

Recently, soon after a video of Kashmiri youth brutally attacking a CRPF soldier went viral on social media, Gambhir once again expressed his anger on Twitter.

The Delhi batsman, who doesn't hesitate in sharing his thoughts on burning issues, took to Twitter to slam the Kashmiri youngsters for the heinous incident.

"For every slap on my army's Jawan lay down at least a 100 jihadi lives. Whoever wants Azadi LEAVE NOW! Kashmir is ours. #kashmirbelongs2us," he tweeted.

The video showed a group of angry youngsters targeting the CRPF personnel as they return from carrying out their duty in Budgam district.
