India captain Rohit Sharma completed 3,500 runs in T20 international cricket during his side's clash against Hong Kong on Wednesday (August 31). The right-hander now is the batter with most runs in the shorter format with 3,520 runs under his belt. Rohit has now played 134 T20Is for India with an average of 31.43 and explosive strike-rate of 139.85.

The star batter is the first in the history to achieve this feature and New Zealand batter Martin Guptill will probably be the second one to do so very soon. It has been a year where both the right-handers have taken over each other for the T20I batter with most runs several times.

Coming to the Asia Cup, Rohit Sharma has featured in all the editions of the tournament since making his debut for India in 2008. However, he would be disappointed with his innings Hong Kong as he was looking set to get that big score. His 21-run knock came to an end when Ayush Shukla from Hong Kong out-foxed him with a slower one above the waist. Rohit smashed 2 boundaries and 1 six during his innings against HK.

India finished at 192/2 after 20 overs as Suryakumar Yadav took charge at the end of the innings, he struck at a rate of over 250 during his knock of 68 (26) cruising India to a tremendous total. Rohit and Rahul gave India a fine start with Kohli and Surya finishing it in style. Kohli also found his form back hitting a fifty and finishing his knock at 59 runs 44 off balls.
