Former Aussie cricketer compares Virat Kohli to Mona Lisa

Known to make colourful comparisons and headline-grabbing statements, Dean Jones was recently at it again when he compared Virat Kohli with Mona Lisa in an attempt to highlight how both are flawless.

In his column for Sydney Morning Herald, the former Aussie cricketer said that Kohli is the biggest challenge in the upcoming Test series Down Under and that befriending him may be the best option for the host country. "Trying to find a weakness in Kohli’s game is like trying to find something wrong with the Mona Lisa. Teams must stop his cover drive and bowl in different areas," he advised the Aussie cricketers. "On his last tour to Australia, he was just awesome with four centuries in eight innings. He hits amazing cover drives and whips through mid-wicket with monotonous ease."

Kohli indeed has the credentials to take Team India to a much-awaited Test series win in Australia. He has been in sublime form and is recognised as the fulcrum on which the Indian batting thrives in all three formats of the game. While several Aussie cricketers have said they expect Kohli - known for his passion for the sport and for winning - to indulge in sledging, Jones says angering the Indian captain may not be the best idea. "Do not talk or provoke him. Make him your best mate."

The Indian team begins the Test series against Australia - starting December 6 - as favourites. While the tourists are in good form, the Aussies have been struggling since losing Steve Smith, David Warner and Cameron Bancroft to bans after the infamous ball-tampering scandal. "India are miles better than Australia in all formats and in the absence of Smith, David Warner and Cameron Bancroft, if India don’t win this series, they will never win in Australia," he said.

The two teams will compete in four Tests before an ODI series from January 1 of the new year.
