Did BCCI force Sachin Tendulkar into retirement? Here's what Sandeep Patil has to say
Speculations were rife about the batting maestro hanging up his boots, before he did so through a BCCI release in October 2013.
New Delhi: When Sandeep Patil attended the press conference on Monday to announce an Indian squad for one last time as chairman of selectors, he was likely to face some tricky questions.
Patil, who was appointed the chairman of selectors following the sacking of Mohinder Amarnath in September 2012, answered several questions, one of which was whether the Indian board had asked batting legend Sachin Tendulkar to consider retirement.
"There are some matters between the selectors and BCCI which should remain confidential and cannot be revealed," Patil said.

The BCCI organised a two-match Test series against West Indies at home, which was the Mumbaikar's farewell series.
Patil at the same time said that the Indian board had made some bold decisions during his four-years tenure as a result of which the team was performing well across formats.
"We have taken some bold and tough decisions looking at the future of Indian cricket. We are very happy at the end of our term that the team is doing well in all three formats and I wish the next committee all the best," he said.
