New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi's decision to scrap-off Rs. 1000 and Rs. 500 notes on November 8, 2016 left the entire country shell-shocked, giving major concerns of worry to those hoarding black money.
The move did pull all existing marriage plans out of comfort zone as cash demands are usually high in organizing high-profile weddings.
With Yuvraj Singh all set to marry girlfriend Hazel Keech on November 30, people wondered how the famous Indian cricketer is going to manage amidst the cash crisis.
Yuvi's father, Yograj did put some light on the matter stating their wedding plans are simple and reasonable.
"Demonetisation has hit primarily those who have black money. It would've pinched us if we were doing something grand. We, as a family, have always believed in simplicity. In a country where a majority of the population lives in abject poverty, people should spend reasonably at weddings. It is better to make donations to charitable organisations on your wedding day, instead of wasting large amounts on lavish parties," Yograj said as per Mid-Day.
"Yuvraj does not want to do 'fizool kharch'. The wedding will see a small number of 60 guests, which includes his son's close friends, family and colleagues from the Indian cricket team. "We are holding the sangeet, mehendi and reception on the same day, followed by a gurudwara shaadi, after which we will take Hazel for 'darshan' of our guru Baba Deep Singh Ji," he added.
Yograj also revealed that he will give the wedding a miss, citing some religious issues.
