BCCI to appoint new national selectors on the basis of interview: Report

New Delhi: Going forth, the appointment of new national selectors will be on the basis of an interview process. According to a report, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has opted to do away with the recommendation practice in appointing national selectors.

According to a report in India Today, the BCCI President Anurag Thakur has confirmed the new process to be adopted. But unlike the much publicised coach selection process, here the final decision will only be taken by the top brass.

"Myself and secretary Shirke will be making the decision," Thakur told India Today.

The present norm of appointing a selection committee is through recommendations from zones, with the BCCI top brass finalising the panel.

Present chairman of selectors Sandeep Patil, Vikram Rathore and Saba Karim are in the last year of their respective term and are set to be replaced.

But other two members – MSK Prasad and Gagan Khoda – still have three more years in their respective tenures as per the BCCI constitution.

Earlier, the Supreme Court appointed Lodha committee recommended a three-member selection panel, and restricting it to Test cricketers.
