BCCI likely to reward Ravindra Jadeja with Grade A contract: Reports

New Delhi: Ravindra Jadeja, who recently overtook Ravichandran Ashwin as the top-ranked bowler in ICC Test rankings, is likely to get a Grade A contract from the Indian cricket board.

Reports emerged on Wednesday that the 28-year-old, in all likelihood, will hear the news of 'promotion' by Thursday when the two-day meeting of Committee of Administrators (COA) concludes in Delhi tomorrow.

The Saurashtra all-rounder has been one of the key performers for India, but is listed in Grade B.

In the just concluded Ranchi Test, Jadeja showcased his brilliance by scoring a quick-fire half-century, besides also claiming nine wickets.

Jadeja has so far taken 27 wickets so far in four Tests in 2017, and is the most successful bowler in the ongoing India-Australia series.

A report in Mumbai Mirror also claimed that Cheteshwar Pujara and Ishant Sharma — both Test regulars – may also get favourable treatment when the cricketing matters like Central Contracts, salaries for the support staff and women's cricket are discussed during the two-day meet.

COA is a temporary body appointed by the Supreme Court on January 30 to run the affairs of the BCCI and implement court-approved recommendations of the Justice R M Lodha panel on reforms in the cash-rich cricket body.

Headed by former Comptroller and Auditor General of India Vinod Rai, it has famous cricket historian Ramachandra Guha, Managing Director of Infrastructure Development Fiance Company (IDFC) Vikram Limaye and former Indian women cricket captain Diana Edulji as members.
