New Delhi: Australia opener Aaron Finch on Wednesday destroyed Sri Lankan new ball bowlers with a devastating innings. The blitz lasted mere 19 balls, but resulted in 55 runs.

Finch hit eight fours and three sixes, to post the joint-quickest fifty for an Australian in the fourth match of the ongoing One-Day International series against Sri Lanka in Dambulla.

The 29-year-old took 18 balls to reach fifty, thus equaling the feats achieved by Simon O'Donnell against the Lankans at Sharjah in 1989-90 series, and Glenn Maxwell against India at Bangalore in 2013-14 series.

Finch started his innings with four successive fours, and after hitting another four fours and three sixes, he became the first wicket to fall for Australia.

After restricting Lanka to 212, Aussies rode on Finch's blistering knock to chase down the target in 31 overs.

Australia take an unassailable 3-1 lead in the five-match series with the win today.
