Big B refuses to confirm Beti B`s name

Mumbai: It seems like we`ll have to keep calling the littlest Bachchan by her nickname, Beti B, a while longer. Megastar Amitabh Bachchan refused to confirm his granddaughter`s name while speaking to the media in Mumbai. The baby`s name has been a family secret so far but last month gossip suggested that Abhishek and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan`s daughter was named Aaradhya. The Bachchans, however, have neither confirmed nor denied this. Asked about the name Aaradhya at the Vidhu Vinod Chopra festival in Mumbai - his second media appearance since his February 11 abdominal surgery - Big B said, "We will talk about it sometime later...not now." Various names like Aaliya and Abhilasha have cropped up in previous rumours, only to be shot down by Abhishek. Speculation around American talk show host Oprah Winfrey`s famous visit to the Bachchan residence suggested that Beti B might be revealed to the world on Oprah`s show. But again that was denied by the Bachchan family. Both Big B and son Abhishek had earlier said that there would be no naming ceremony for the little girl as the family does not believe in it. The Bachchans have been fiercely protective of the latest member of the family ever since Aishwarya gave birth to the daughter on November 16 last year. When asked about his health post surgery, Mr Bachchan said, "I am fine now...much better." PTI
