I like to keep experimenting with my roles: Kenneth Branagh

Kenneth Branagh says it is important for him to have variety in his acting roles and to star in all different mediums.

London: Actor-director Kenneth Branagh says it is important for him to have variety in his acting roles and to star in all different mediums.
The 51-year-old, who has taken on many different characters throughout his career, said it is a good thing because he does not get typecast and can show off his talents in lots of ways, reported a leading daily.
"Variety is very, very good. Going from medium to medium, if you get the chance to do it, from theatre to television to film, which are all distinctly different, keeps me sharp. What works in one doesn`t work in the other, and you have to be looking for the truth of the performance, whatever way that medium might demand," he said. The actor will next be seen playing a villain in new film ‘Jack Ryan’. "The movie is very fast-paced, very contemporary, very action-driven thriller. I don`t tend to think of him as a villain. You just think, `My guy.` The character is a great anti-thesis, but it isn`t as simple as that. "It`s great to see a character in this film with Jack Ryan. It`s just a very strong, very interesting, complicated, complex character," he added. As well as starring in the movie, Branagh will also direct the project. PTI
