Mumbai: Filmfare Wednesday unveiled a new trophy with a gold base to commemorate 100 years of Indian cinema. Bollywood diva Aishwarya Rai uncovered the statue and later she was gifted the same.
Aishwarya says it was an honour to receive the trophy without even being nominated for the 58th Idea Filmfare Awards.
"I am feeling very special as this is going to be very different. For the first time, I don`t have any nominations because I didn`t have any releases last year because of the special reason of having Aaradhya," the actress told reporters at the press conference here. "Despite having no nominations, I am officially taking home the black lady (Filmfare trophy). I have had the privilege of being nominated throughout the career," she added. The 39-year-old, who gave birth to Aaradhya in November 2011, is on a sabbatical right now. Recalling her first Filmfare award, Aishwarya said: "When I got the first trophy, I truly felt special. I got it for the film `Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam`. I got it at a very early age and it was very prestigious. For me, holding the black lady is equivalent to holding an Oscar." Is she planning to make a comeback? "I cannot give you an exact date. There is no guarantee in a creative field... Whenever I come on board for any film, you all will get to know," she said. The 58th Idea Filmfare award will be held Jan 20 at the YRF Studios here. IANS
