Tulisa Contostavlos named most searched celebrity of 2012

London: Tulisa Contostavlos beat off strong competition from the Duchess of Cambridge and knocked off teen heartthrob Justin Bieber, to become the most searched-for celebrity of 2012. Kate came second while last year’s no.1 Bieber landed in at 5th position, a leading daily has reported. Based on the aggregation of billions of search queries by search engine Bing, it was revealed that Prince Harry was the UK’s sixth most-searched person behind Cheryl Cole and the late Whitney Houston. Robert Pattinson, Rihanna, Kim Kardashian and disgraced TV presenter Jimmy Savile round out the top 10. Gold medal-winning cyclist and ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ star Victoria Pendleton took the top position in sports, followed by sprinter Usain Bolt and gold medallist tennis star Andy Murray. Stricken footballer Fabrice Muamba was the 4th most searched sportsperson, with heptathlete Jessica Ennis in 5th place. Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson’s on-off relationship made them the most searched celebrity couple. ‘EastEnders’ beat reality TV rivals ‘Big Brother’ and ‘X Factor’ to become 2012’s most searched TV show.
