`Django Unchained` premiere cancelled after Newtown shootings

The planned Hollywood premiere of Quentin Tarantino`s much-anticipated film "Django Unchained" has been cancelled after Newtown shootings.

Los Angeles: The planned Hollywood premiere of Quentin Tarantino`s much-anticipated film "Django Unchained" has been cancelled after Newtown shootings.
Instead of a red carpet event, only a private screening will now take place out of respect for those killed in last week`s shootings in Newtown, reported Ace Showbiz.
"Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families of the tragedy in Newtown, CT, and in this time of national mourning we have decided to forgo our scheduled event," The Weinstein Company said in a statement. "However, we will be holding a private screening for the cast and crew and their friends and families." "Django Unchained" stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Jamie Foxx, Christoph Waltz and Don Johnson. The movie follows a slave whose wife is taken by a brutal Mississippi plantation owner. However a source said the cancellation of the premiere is not directly related to depictions of violence in the movie. "Django Unchained" will hit theatres in the US on December 25, and will open on January 13, 2013 in the UK. PTI
