Mumbai: If actresses are happy getting good extra mileage for item numbers, composer Lalit Pandit too is ecstatic about composing item songs.
"I am very excited. Initially, I never made item numbers and I only did melodious music. Now the genre has changed. I am making very good item songs and they are becoming popular as well," he said at the premiere of ‘Chaalis Chaurasi’, which hit screens Friday.
He composed super hit item number ‘Munni badnam hui’ and his latest are ‘Setting jhala’ and ‘Badmast’ for ‘Chaalis Chaurasi’. A thumbs up from the audiences is what Lalit aims for.
"For us, the biggest compliment is that the audiences should like the song. We make the song for the people and our efforts are always to make something that the people like," said Lalit who ended his professional relationship with brother Jatin in 2006 citing personal reasons.
The duo of Jatin-Lalit started off in 1992 with the movie ‘Yaara Dildara’ and their song ‘Bin Tere Sanam’ was a super hit. After giving music in films like ‘Khiladi’, ‘Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander’ and ‘Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa’, they rocketed to glory in 1995 with ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’.
