The agriculture ministry officials have maintained that the pulses prices in the country have not risen due to delay in importing the commodity and making up the demand shortfall.

The government estimates an increase in domestic production next year to 18.32 million tonnes from 17.38 million tonnes during 2014-15. The annual consumption of pulses is estimated at around 22 million tonnes.
