Brad Pitt’s China conundrum

London: Brad Pitt has deleted his vague post from his Chinese Twitter account – that hinted that he may visit the country 15 years after he was banned by the government - creating confusion over his travel plans. The 49-year-old actor’s Monday post on Sina Weibo, said, “It is the truth. Yup, I’m coming.” It is believed that the ambiguous ‘tweet’ meant that Pitt was soon to visit China, possibly in his role as a brand ambassador for the French fashion house Chanel. The tweet drew thousands of comments and hype around the world. But just hours later, the ambiguous post was deleted - leaving the actor’s Chinese fans in the dark about whether or not he will visit the country, after he was banned from 15 years ago, the Daily Mail reported. Pitt was banned from ever entering China for portraying the role of the young Dalai Lama’s Austrian tutor in his 1997 movie ‘Seven Years in Tibet.’ At the time, the Chinese Foreign Ministry took issue with the film’s sympathetic portrayal of the now exiled 14th Dalai Lama and the negative light in which the Chinese soldiers in Tibet were shown.
